October 17, 2012: Women in Politics

When:

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Where:

The Metropolitan Ballroom & Clubroom

Details:

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar and her father, Jim Klobuchar

In 2006, Amy Klobuchar became the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate in Minnesota's history. From 1999 – 2006, she served as chief prosecutor in Hennepin County, the state’s largest county. She is up for re-election in November.

Jim Klobuchar is a longtime figure in Minnesota journalism who has worked in daily newspapering, radio and television. For 30 years, he wrote a daily column for the Minneapolis Star and Star Tribune. Since retiring several years ago, he still writes widely and has published two dozen books.

The Klobuchars will take part in a no stress, no agenda conversation about what it is like to be and to raise one of the most well respected female politicians in the country. Does Jim take any credit? Does Amy ask him for advice? When did she know that politics was in her future? Did he encourage or discourage her?  Did she listen?

This event is part of the Women, Wisdom & Wine monthly conversation series designed for and dedicated to women and information. The events offer busy women an opportunity to learn about and explore current and timely topics.

The topic for October is Women in Politics. Who better to discuss this topic than the state’s top female politician and her father and long time newspaperman.

Light appetizers and beverages will be provided. Cash bar available. Reserved tables for eight are available for $500 and include a private cocktail reception before the event.
